1. ARE THE TREES DESTROYED IN THE PROCESS AND HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR THE BARK TO REGENERATE?
NO, The trees are not damaged, the bark regenerates and one tree can be harvested more than 40 years.
It takes a period of 8-12 months until the next harvest is done.
2. IS THIS A FAIR TRADE?
Yes we follow fair trade principle. We work directly with artisans/women who make the products before hand. We give a deposit when an order is placed and pay full amount after the order is all done
3. ARE THE PRODUCTS MADE FROM TREE BARK STURDY?
The products are study, we have customers that bought handbags from us 2-3 years ago and they still find us at different shows with so much appreciation. The way the products are made makes them hold up pretty well.
4. WHAT PERCENTAGE OF THE PROCEEDS GOES BACK TO THE WOMEN?
We use 50% of the proceeds to train more women with skills that enable them become self sufficient.
5. HOW EFFECTIVE DOES THE SKILL SET HELP THE WOMEN?
Most women are able to get materials that help them start their small businesses. Our model enables most of the women manage their businesses thus have independence and flexibility of selling to other people.
6. HOW DO YOU CLEAN THE PLACEMATS AND TABLE RUNNER?
Use sponge water and soap if needed and put them on the counter or hung them anywhere to dry. These placemats are made from raffia which is grass so avoid putting them in the washing machine.
7. WHAT HAPPENS IF THE TREE BARK PRODUCTS GET WET?
The products are not damaged, please put them in an open are to dry, If its water, hey won't have any stains. They could get stained if the drink has sugar, you can use a damp cloth and gently clean it in one direction.
8. IS ANIMAL LEATHER USED ON SOME OF THE PRODUCTS?
Our goal is to work towards sustainability as well as be its champion. Our model is eco-friendly, sustainable and vegan based. The leather used is NOT animal leather
